Austin Packers wrestling team hosts Big 9 Conference triangular Thursday evening

The Austin Packers wrestling team played host to a Big 9 Conference triangular at Ove Berven Gym Thursday evening involving Mankato East and Rochester Century, and it was the Packers falling to the Cougars 62-12, and to the Panthers by a score of 61-12.  Mankato East then defeated Rochester Century in the other dual by a score of 41-22.

The Packers were led by junior Captain Samuel Winkels, who has a 28-1 record on the season and is ranked fifth in the state in Class AA at Heavyweight, and they were also led Thursday evening by sophomore William Mullenbach, who has a 15-14 record on the season at 139 pounds, as each wrestler went 2-0 with two falls piece.

Austin returns to action at the 17-team South St. Paul Veldman Invitational Saturday, with the action scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
