The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team faced a tough test at home in their regular season finale Thursday evening as they played host to the Hayfield Vikings, ranked No. 6 in the state in Class A in a Gopher Conference clash, and in a game that saw the Blossoms rally back from double-digit deficits on three different occasions to take a 44-43 lead late in the game, it was the veteran Vikings who had the last push in a 55-48 win.

Claire Schwarz led Blooming Prairie offensively Thursday night with a 3-pointer on her way to 12 points, Addison Doocy totaled 10 points, Shawntee Snyder tallied eight points, Macy Lembke drained a 3-pointer in a 7-point night, Sienna Fyksen scored six points, Ella Smith chipped in four points, and Catelyn Bartlett scored one point.  For Hayfield, Natalie Beaver and Chelsea Christopherson each scored 12 points, while Lilly Beyer added 10 in the win.

The Blossoms finish the regular season with a record of 16-9 overall and 9-7 in the Gopher Conference, and Blooming Prairie will be back into action in the Section 1A tournament next week, with first-round action scheduled to start Tuesday, February 20th.
