Coming off a 61-24 rout of United South Central in a Gopher Conference matchup Friday night, it was a tough back-to-back road swing for the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team as they traveled to Winona Saturday afternoon to take on the Cotter Ramblers, the No. 8 team in the state in the latest Class AA rankings, and in a game that saw the Blossoms battle throughout, the squad saw a lead with about 9 minutes left slip away in a 72-52 loss.

Cotter led 32-23 at the half, and Shawntee Snyder led the Blossoms in scoring Saturday afternoon with 19 points, Macy Lembke drained both of BP’s 3-pointers in the game on her way to 13 points, Addison Doocy scored eight points, Claire Schwarz added six points, Ella Smith tallied two points, Caitlyn Stangl chipped in two points, and Sienna Fyksen scored one point in a contest that saw Abby Williams drain four of Cotter’s 12 3-pointers on her way to leading all scorers with 21 points, and one that also saw the Blossoms hold the advantage at the free throw line, as Blooming Prairie was 14 for 21 from the charity stripe, compared to 4 for 7 for the Ramblers.

With the loss, Blooming Prairie is now 12-6 overall, and 6-4 in Gopher Conference, and the Awesome Blossoms return to action at home Monday evening versus Kenyon-Wanamingo in the Gopher Conferene, with tip-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
