Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team falls to NRHEG 41-36 Friday evening
The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team played host to a tough NRHEG squad in a Gopher Conference Conference matchup in Blooming Prairie Friday evening, and in a game that saw the Blossoms play good enough defense to win, it was the Panthers, the No. 18 team in the state in the latest Class AA poll playing even better defense in a 41-36 victory.
The Blossoms held a slim 19-15 lead at the half, and Shawntee Snyder led the Blossoms in scoring Friday evening with 13 points, Macy Lembke drained three 3-pointers for nine points, Sienna Fyksen swished a 3 on her way to seven points, Addison Doocy totaled four points, Ella Smith added two points, and Claire Schwarz scored one point. NRHEG’s Camryn Vanmaldeghem led all scorers in the game with 18 points, including four of the Panther’s seven 3-pointers in the game.
With the losss, the Blossoms are 10-5 overall and 5-4 in the Gopher Conference. Blooming Prairie returns to action Monday night in St. Charles versus the Saints in a non-conference matchup, with tip-off at 7;15 p.m. that evening.
