An Austin man who was taken into custody after over two pounds of methamphetamine were discovered after the execution of a search warrant at a residence in northwest Austin Thursday has now been charged in Mower County District Court.

Austin Police Department Captain Todd Clennon stated in a report that the Southeast MN Violent Crimes Enforcement Team, Austin Police and the Mower County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence at 511 4th St NW in Austin Thursday after an extensive investigation into the trafficking of methamphetamine. Captain Clennon noted that the location is within a school zone of Pacelli Schools, and during the search warrant, Clennon stated that approximately 1,113 grams, or 2.5 pounds of methamphetamine were located, along with items associated with the use and sales of methamphetamine. 

40-year-old Patrick John Dion was taken into custody and placed in the Mower County jail, and he was charged Friday with felonies for 1st degree drugs, aggravated controlled substance crime with two aggravating factors and also for 1st degree drugs, possession of 100 grams or more of cocaine or methamphetamine.  Bail for Dion was set at $325,000 with conditions, and $750,000 without conditions, and his next appearance in Mower County District Court will be a Rule 8 hearing on February 1st.

Captain Clennon indicated in the report that Dion was currently out on bail on a felony charge of 1st Degree Sale of drugs in a school zone prior to the execution of the search warrant Thursday.
