Dr Anthony Fauci to Throw 1st Pitch on Opening Day

Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, few people would have been able to tell you who Dr. Anthony Fauci was.

But now “the country’s top infectious diseases expert” has become so famous, he’s agreed to throw out the first pitch at Major League Baseball’s opening day game.

Fauci will help kick off the season opener for the Washington Nationals Thursday, when his hometown team takes on the New York Yankees.

In a statement released Monday, Nationals officials say, “Dr. Fauci has been a true champion for our country during the COVID-19 pandemic and throughout his distinguished career, so it is only fitting that we honor him as we kick off the 2020 season and defend our World Series Championship title.”
