A Grand Meadow woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 16 in Fillmore County late Wednesday evening.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2013 Chevy Impala being driven by 36-year old Nikki Rae Heitland of Grand Meadow was eastbound on Highway 16 at approximately 10:18 p.m. Wednesday evening when her vehicle left the roadway near the Mower/Fillmore road in Spring Valley Township and struck a power pole.

Heitland sustained non-life threatening injuries in the accident,and she was transported to Mayo Clinic/St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for treatment.  The State Patrol reported that Heitland was not wearing her seatbelt, and they also indicated that alcohol was a factor in the accident.  

Sheriff’s Offices from Mower and Fillmore Counties, plus Spring Valley and Mayo Ambulance all assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene Wednesday evening.
