Individuals from Austin Packers girls swimming and diving team compete at State Class A Meet

Individuals from the Austin Packers girls swimming and diving team started competition Thursday at the State Class A Individual Meet at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center at the University of Minnesota, and after the preliminaries in 1-meter diving, junior Alayna Kennedy, who is making her second straight appearance at the state meet is in first place with 307.60 points.  The next closest competitor to Kennedy after the prelims is Benilde-St. Margaret’s freshman Bailey Monette with 282.65 points, followed by St. Peter senior Laura Klatt in third with 268.35 points, Monticello freshman Chloe Schwietering is fourth with 262.30 points, and Packer junior Reese Norton, who, like Kennedy is making her second straight appearance at the state meet is fifth with 261.65 points.  Both Kennedy and Norton will be taking part in the Class A diving finals that will get underway at noon on Saturday.

Also making a second straight trip to the State Meet is Austin freshman Gracie Greenman in the 100 backstroke, as Greenman broke her own school record at the Section 1A meet with a time of 1:00.31, which was good for second place.  Greenman is scheduled to swim in Lane 2 in the third of four preliminaries in the event at noon today (Friday), with the Class A swimming finals scheduled to start at noon on Saturday.
