An Iowa man was injured in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 90 in Austin Saturday afternoon.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 1997 Ford F350 pickup being driven by 68-year old Carl Gerhardt Tessmer of Earlham, Iowa, and a 2016 Dodge pickup being driven by 36-year old Stephen Botka of El Dorado Springs, Missouri were both westbound on Interstate 90 at approximately 2:35 p.m. Saturday afternoon when the two vehicles collided near 4th Street Northwest.

Tessmer sustained non-life threatening injuries in the accident, and he was transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Austin for treatment, while Botka was uninjured.  The State Patrol indicated that Tessmer was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, while Botka was wearing his, and the Mower County Sheriff’s Office, Police and Fire Departments from Austin, plus Mayo Ambulance all assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene Saturday afternoon.
