Iowa man sentenced on drug possession, DWI charges in Mower County District Court

An Iowa man facing drug possession and DWI charges in Mower County District Court stemming from an incident that took place on May 2nd, 2020 has been sentenced to jail time, supervised probation and community work service.

54-year old Darren Lee Kruse of Stacyville, Iowa was convicted and sentenced Thursday to five years of supervised probation and 40 hours of community work service for a felony 5th degree drug possession charge.  Kruse was granted a stay of imposition in the case where the defendant pleads guilty to a felony-level offense.  If he or she successfully completes their probation, the conviction will be deemed a misdemeanor.  Kruse was also convicted and sentenced to 90 days in jail and a year of supervised probation for a misdemeanor charge of 4th degree DWI, any amount of Schedule I or II drugs.  Judge Christa Dailey stayed 86 days of the jail term for one year, and Kruse was given credit for four days already served.  

Kruse first pleaded guilty to the charges on October 22nd, 2021.
