In a quirk in their schedule, the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team, who downed Glenville-Emmons 67-60 in a Southeast Conference matchup at All Saints Arena Tuesday evening were right back into action against the Wolverines Thursday evening, this time in Glenville, and in a wild game that went into overtime, the Wolverines were able to outgun the Athletics 96-85.

The Athletics led 33-31 at the half, and they were able to push their lead to as large as 15 points at 63-48 in the second half before the Wolverines came storming back with a 15-4 run to cut the deficit to four at 67-63.  The biggest lead for the Athletics the rest of the way would be six points at 71-65, but Glenville-Emmons would not go away as they shaved the lead down to one point late in the half at 78-77 before sending the game into overtime with a 3-pointer tied at 80-80.  The Wolverines then capped off the comeback by outscoring Lyle/Pacelli 16-5 in the extra session for the win.

Landon Meyer led three Athletics in double figures in scoring for the game with 33 points, plus he added three rebounds, a team-high six assists and one steal, Isaac Nelsen totaled 16 points and two rebounds, Dylan Christianson was also in double figures in scoring Thursday evening with 14 points, plus he added six rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot, Leland Hicks tallied nine points and six rebounds, Chase Bauer put up a stat line of eight points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals, and Andrew Fredrick totaled five points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals in a game that saw Marshall Baseman, who went over 1,000 points for his career recently pile up 34 points and an incredible 23 rebounds for the Wolverines, and Emmet Knutson added 26 points, including five 3-pointers in the winning effort for Glenville-Emmons.  The game also saw a combined 58 free throws attempted during the contest, with LP going 20 for 28, while Glenville-Emmons was 18 for 30, and the Wolverines were 35 for 68 overall from the field for 51.5%, compared to 28 for 70 for Lyle/Pacelli for 40%.  Another factor in the win for Glenville-Emmons was rebounds, as they outrebounded the Athletics by a margin of 46-27.

With the loss, the Athletics are now 11-13 on the season overall and 8-10 in the Southeast Conference, and Lyle/Pacelli will be back in action in Rushford Saturday to take on a tough Trojan squad with tip-off at 3:00 p.m.
