In a game you heard on AM 1480 KAUS, Dylan Christianson led three players in double figures with 19 points, plus he added 11 rebounds for a double-double, two assists, one steal and two blocked shots as the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team led from wire-to-wire in a 75-61 victory over Southeast Conference rival Mabel-Canton at All Saints Arena Thursday evening.

The Athletics jumped out to leads of 9-2 and 14-7 early in the first half, but it was the Cougars reeling off six unanswered points to cut LP’s lead to one at 14-13.  The Athletics responded with a 14-3 run of their own to boost their lead to 12 points at 28-16, and they then outscored the Cougars 10-6 the rest of the first half to lead 38-22 at the halftime break.  LP opened the second half on an 8-2 run to boost their lead to 22 at 46-24, and the lead stayed at double digits the rest of the way for the Athletics in the win.

Besides Christianson’s 19 points, Chase Bauer also notched a double-double with 18 points and a team-high 12 rebounds, plus he also led the club in assists with five, and in steals with two.  Landon Meyer was also in double figures Thursday evening with 10 points, plus he chipped in seven rebounds, four assists and one steal, Marshall Burma and Leland Hicks each scored seven points, Andrew Fredrick and Isaac Nelsen both drained a pair of 3-pointers for six points apiece, and Jack Klingfus tallied two points in the victory.

With the win, the Athletics are now 7-8 overall on the season and 5-5 in the Southeast Conference, and Lyle/Pacelli will be right back into action tonight (Friday) in Houston versus the Hurricanes, with the Southeast Conference matchup scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m.
