Lyle/Pacelli boys basketball opens 2021-2022 season with 89-56 rout of FBA

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys’ basketball team opened their 2021-2022 season on the road in Faribault Thursday night versus the Cardinals of Bethlehem Academy in a non-conference matchup, and the Athletics performed in mid-season fashion as guard Jake Truckenmiller was 7-12 from behind the 3-point arc on his way to 33 points and guard Buay Koak added 28 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals as LP rolled to an 89-56 season-opening win.

Besides his 33 points, Truckenmiller also chipped in three assists and four steals, Mac Nelson was also in double figures in points with 15, plus he added seven rebounds, six assists and a steal, Trey Anderson scored nine points and Hunter Bauer and Christopher Maly-Price each added two points for Lyle/Pacelli, who bolted out to a 48-26 halftime lead and were a blistering 14-29 from 3-point range for 48.3%.

The Athletics open the season at 1-0, and they return to action for their home opener in Lyle next Tuesday evening against Kingsland in a Southeast Conference matchup, with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
