Minnesota Landlord Sets Apartment Ablaze, Blares “We Didn’t Start The Fire”

A 37-year-old landlord in Minnesota named Travis Carlson internationally set his apartment on fire last Thursday while blaring Billy Joel’s song We Didn’t Start the Fire.

The downstairs tenant heard Carlson “smashing glass and breaking things” for roughly 20 minutes.  At least he knocked on that tenant’s door to tell them that “the house is on fire.”

When firefighters arrived, the song was blasting from the apartment.

(They totally should’ve responded by playing the Alanis Morissette song “Ironic”.)

The landlord now faces up to 20 years in prison.  It’s unclear if he tried to argue that “it was always burning . . . since the world’s been turning.”

Perhaps Alanis Morissette’s “Ironic” would be fitting for this story.
