Overby Orthodontics Prep Athlete of the Week named!

Congratulations to this week’s KAUS Overby Orthodontics Prep Athlete of the Week, Laney Weis of the Southland Rebels softball team!

Weis, a freshman who has been pitching for the Rebels since 7th grade is having another fantastic season this year, as she fired a 5-inning no-hitter in a 13-0 win over Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons Tuesday that capped off a string of three consecutive shutouts and the fourth in her last five games in the circle, and in a matchup with Spring Grove the following day, Weis gave up only one run on four hits, striking out nine and walking one, plus she was 2 for 4 at the plate with two doubles and a run scored in an 11-1 win.  Weis has given up only three earned runs in 58 innings pitched so far this season for an ERA of 0.36, with 85 strikeouts and 21 walks as well.
