Overby Orthodontics Prep Athletes of the Week named!

Congratulations to this week’s KAUS Overby Orthodontics Prep Athletes of the Week, Ajiem Agwa of the Austin Packers girls basketball team, and Zack Hein of the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms boys basketball team!

Agwa, a junior guard for the Packers added yet another scoring record to her resume for the 2023-2024 season in a Section 1AAA matchup versus Kasson-Mantorville Wednesday evening, as her 22 points made her the first player in school history to score over 600 points in one season. Agwa’s total of 602 points for the season eclipses the previous mark of 585 points for Elisa Bue in the 2003-2004 season, and she also set the single-game scoring record for the program twice this past season, scoring 40 points in a game versus Rochester Mayo at Ove Berven Gym on January 4th, followed by a whopping 51 points a game later versus Mankato West.  Agwa also became the 11th Packer to reach 1,000 points for her career in another game with Mankato West at Ove Berven Gym on Tuesday, February 13th.

Hein, a senior guard for the Awesome Blossoms who recently had a game for the ages against Alden-Conger where he broke three school records in the contest, including most points in one game (50), career 3-pointers (172), and most 3-pointers in one game (10) in a 91-43 win added another career achievement in a Section 1A tournament matchup at home versus Bethlehem Academy, as he went over 1,000 points for his career in his last game on his home floor to help lead the Blossoms to a 65-43 win.
