A Rochester man who sold a total of approximately 20 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant with the Austin Police Department on November 8th, 2022, and again on November 11th, 2022 has been sentenced to prison time in Mower County District Court.

37-year old Michael Matthew Lewis was convicted and sentenced Thursday to 95 months, or 7 years and 11 months in prison for a felony charge of 2nd degree drugs, sale of 10 grams or more of a narcotic other than heroin within a 90-day period.  Lewis was given credit for 158 days already served, and he pleaded guilty to the charge on October 16th, 2023.  

Lewis originally pleaded not guilty to the charge on August 28th, 2023, and felony charges for 1st degree drugs, sale of 17 grams or more of cocaine or methamphetamine within a 90-day period, and for 3rd degree drugs, sale of a narcotic in the case against Lewis were dismissed with his guilty plea.  Lewis was also convicted and sentenced Thursday to 364 days in jail on a gross misdemeanor charge of DWI, operating a motor vehicle with any amount of Schedule I or II drugs in the system, not cannabis or hemp stemming from a traffic stop in Austin on August 18th, 2023.  Lewis was given credit for 109 days already served, and a gross misdemeanor charge for DWI, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor charge for driving after revocation in the case against Lewis were dismissed with his guilty plea.

Judge Kevin Siefken determined that Lewis will be allowed to serve the two sentences concurrently.
