The spring sports season is scheduled to get underway for area schools this week, and for Austin High School, baseball and softball are the first two teams scheduled to get their seasons underway, with the baseball team traveling to Veteran’s Memorial Community Center in Inver Grove Heights to play St. Peter Tuesday, April 2nd, before playing their home opener against Rochester John Marshall at Dick Seltz Field at Riverland Community College Thursday at 5:00 p.m.  The Packers softball team will start the 2024 season with a five-game homestand, starting with Byron Tuesday, April 2nd at the Packerdome at 6:00 p.m.  A busy first week of the season for the Packers will also include games at the Packerdome against NRHEG Friday night at 7:00 p.m., and against defending Section 1AAA champion and state consolation title winner Winona at noon Saturday.

Austin Packers boys and girls track and field are both scheduled to start their season on Thursday, April 4th at a nine-team invitational at Ted Nelson Track at Alexander Park in Faribault at 4:30 p.m. that afternoon, and Austin Packers boys tennis will open the 2024 campaign in Owatonna Saturday, April 6th in a Big 9 Conference triangular with the host Huskies and Faribault, with the action scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m.

Both Austin Packers boys and girls golf teams are scheduled to start their season against Winona on Monday, April 6th, with the boys at The Bridges Golf Course in Winona at 2:30 p.m. that afternoon, and the girls will be home versus the Winhawks at the Austin Country Club, with tee-off also at 2:30 p.m. that afternoon.
