Three people injured in four-vehicle accident on Interstate 90 in Mower County Monday afternoon
Three people were injured in a four-vehicle accident on Interstate 90 in Mower County Monday afternoon.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2022 Freightliner semi being driven by 56-year old Peter Anthony Norton of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, a 2016 Ford Transit Van being driven by 53-year old Ross Layne Lester of West Salem, Wisconsin, a 2014 Ford pickup truck being driven by 31-year old Hannah Raye Baumgartner of Austin, and a 2012 Chevy Equinox being driven by 58-year old Randy Joseph Freund of Adams were all eastbound on Interstate 90 at approximately 2:02 p.m. Monday afternoon when the vehicles made contact near mile marker 183 in Windom Township.
Lester, Baumgartner and Freund all sustained non-life threatening injuries in the accident, and all three were transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Austin for treatment, while Norton was uninjured. The State Patrol closed Interstate 90 for approximately two hours after the accident, and they added that all parties involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts.
The Mower County Sheriff’s Office, the Austin Fire Department, Mayo Ambulance and MnDOT all assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene Monday afternoon.
