Three people injured in one-vehicle accident involving alcohol on Interstate 90 in Mower County early Tuesday morning

Three people were injured in a one-vehicle accident involving alcohol on eastbound Interstate 90 in Mower County early Tuesday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2016 Acura RDX being driven by 20-year old Devon McCormick Lee of Albert Lea was eastbound on Interstate 90 at approximately 12:02 a.m. Tuesday morning when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the median at milepost 179.

Lee and two passengers in his vehicle, 19-year old Gavin Gene Lawson of Albert Lea and a 17-year old male all suffered non-life threatening injuries in the accident, and Lawson and the 17-year old male were transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Austin for treatment, while Lee was treated at the scene.  The State Patrol indicated that alcohol was involved in the accident concerning Lee and Lawson, and they added that only Lee was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.  

The State Patrol went on to indicate that the road was wet at the time of the accident, and the Mower County Sheriff’s Office, the Austin Police Department, the Austin Fire Department and Mayo Ambulance all assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene early Tuesday morning.
