The Austin Packers girls golf team was able to open the home portion of their 2023 season in a 7-team invitational at the Austin Country Club Monday, and it was a young and rapidly improving Packer squad shooting a team total of 375, good for third overall.  Byron took first in the team competition with a total of 359, followed by Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa in second 11 strokes back at 370, followed by the Packers, and then Rochester Mayo in fourth with a score of 386.  Stewartville took fifth with a team total of 398, followed by Rochester Century in sixth at 411, and Kasson-Mantorville in seventh.

Eighth-grader Ailani Thiravong, who became one of the top players for the Packers last season fired the low round for Austin Monday with an 86, sophomore Izzy Sellers shot a 93, 8th grader Sydney Lewis followed with a 94, Lucy Annis, another 8th grader for the Packers fired a 102, 8th grader Regan Harty was fifth overall for Austin with a 112, and sophomore Anna Kossman finished with a 114.

The Packers are right back into action today (Tuesday) at Eastwood Golf Course in Rochester for a Big 9 Conference triangular with Rochester Mayo and Rochester Century, with tee-off scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
