The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms boys basketball team, ranked No. 6 in the state in the latest Class A poll were looking to keep their record unblemished Saturday afternoon as they kicked off a three-game road swing in Winona versus the Cotter/Hope Lutheran Ramblers, a Class AA team sporting a 12-3 record overall coming into the game, and it was the Blossoms falling from the ranks of the unbeaten in a 61-60 squeaker.

Gabe Hein led three Blossoms in double figures Saturday afternoon as he accounted for the only 3-pointer of the game for BP on his way to 23 points, Cooper Cooke scored 14 points, Zack Hein added 10 points, Brady Kittleson chipped in seven points, Gabe Staloch tallied four points, and Kolby Vigeland totaled two points.  Gabe Stewart drained four of Cotter’s nine 3-pointers to lead the Ramblers in scoring with 22 points in the win.

The Blossoms are now 17-1 overall on the season with the loss, and Blooming Prairie returns to action Monday night in Kenyon versus the Knights of Kenyon-Wanamingo in the Gopher Conference, with the varisty tip-off at 7:15 p.m.
