Lyle/Pacelli boys basketball downs Southland 60-50

The top two teams in the West Division of the Southeast Conference squared off in Adams Thursday night as first-place Lyle/Pacelli, winners of seven in a row took on the second-place Southland Rebels, and Mac Nelson led three Athletics in double figures in scoring with 19 points, plus he added five rebounds, one assist, two steals and one blocked shot as the Athletics widened their lead atop the division with a 60-50 win.

The Athletics led 28-17 at the half, and they continued to shoot a high percentage from the field during their current winning streak as LP was 22-52 from the field overall for 42.3%, and the Athletics were 19-35 from 2-point range for 54.3%.  Lyle/Pacelli also outrebounded Southland in the game 31-24, and besides Nelson’s 9 points, Trey Anderson tallied 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals, Buay Koak tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, plus he added four assists, three steals and four blocked shots, Hunter Bauer and Jake Truckenmiller each scored seven points and David Christianson chipped in three points for the Athletics, who earned their 20th win of the season against three defeats, and they are now 14-1 in the division.

Lyle/Pacelli is right back into action tonight (Friday) as they head back out on the road to Spring Grove to take on the Lions, with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
